The ADDIFLAP Project

ADDIFLAP aims to develop a new concept of flap track system by combining a novel flap track support manufactured by Laser Wire Direct Energy Deposition (W-DED-LB) with a new design of carriage system based in sliding pad concept, free of maintenance.

ADDIFLAP flap track manufactured by W-DED- Laser process

Final demonstrator of the Addiflap project has been manufactured by additive manufacturing. In this case wire DED laser process is use to manufacture a flap track demonstrator in Ti6Al4V. This is the largest component manufactured by Aimen in titanium (1400x300x100mm aprox, and 12kg final weight). W-DED-LB process parameters have been optimized and upgraded inert chamber was designed to manufacture the final component. Simulation models and optimized manufacturing strategies developed in ADDIFLAP have enabled the reduction of distortion of the component due to manufacturing process up to 40%. After heat stress relief and machining to target geometry, the demonstrator is at AC2T facilities to perform the wear test of the sliding pads developed under Addiflap project.
